Getting Started

After being a Girl Scout leader for 13 years, I have decided it was time to switch hats. My daughter has graduated high school and moved away for college. That left me home with my two boys just coming to age for cub scouts. My oldest son at age 5 in Kindergarten last year joined mid way through with the Lion Cub program and youngest age 4 not old enough yet. As the summer progressed there was still no word on a Lion Den Leader, so I made the call and said I would help. Well to my not so surprise that offering put me in position for Den Leader of the new Lion Cubs. So I will be running this new program with my youngest and his group. I am excited but nervous for my new adventure. Cubscouts.org has some good information of what the program is about. Lion Scouts

Registration night and Cross over

We had our kick-off meeting with the Den last week. I was so nervous and walked in not prepared at all. I figured we would just do paperwork and sign-up the boys and be done. Apparently I didn't get the message that I was going to be front and center. OMG, when the Den Master first introduced myself I just stood up and waved at the crowd, that was fine, but when they started the cross over event as it got cancelled in June due to prior commitments I thought it was just the boys going up front. To my surprise I was called to the front of the room for the Kindergarten boys to walk the bridge to cross over to a Lion Scout, it was so cute and I got to greet each of them with smiles and a hand shake, so here it begins. I walked away with at least 6 Lion Cubs, with the chance of many more. We will see how it goes the next few weeks.  When I got home I pulled out my Lion Books from last year and started planning my meeting for next week. I can not wait - I am so excited!
